FAQs about IKOffice
MoldManager.
IKOffice MoldManager is the custom-built PPS system for all types of tool, mold, model, fixture, machine, and plant manufacturing. It is designed for small and medium-sized businesses as well as for the tool and mold-making departments of large corporations. It is fully internationalized and designed for the parallel production of hundreds of projects.
The maintenance or service contract ensures that your system remains operational, up-to-date, and secure, and is an essential component throughout the entire period of your software’s use. It includes all updates as well as telephone assistance and support for your employees. At approximately 7–12% of the total cost per year, we have created one of the most affordable and comprehensive service offerings in the industry.
IKOffice uses the Java Connector (JCo) provided and certified by SAP itself. Access via this interface does not require external certification, as all access occurs via standard BAPIs and is therefore validated by SAP itself—in accordance with the authorization assigned to the user. This approach therefore cannot lead to problems such as a loss of warranty on SAP’s part. The structure and scope of the data exchange are determined on a case-by-case basis.
Yes, IKOffice MoldManager can support all business processes, from customer inquiries to invoicing. In terms of scope and functionality, IKOffice MoldManager is one of the leading ERP software solutions for the tool and mold making industry.
IKOffice MoldManager intentionally includes only a few modules. These include advanced time account management, machine integration, item costing, and a scanning module. Our scanning module, designed for matching incoming documents, is optimized for fast, batch-based processing of incoming invoices. Matching and recognition are performed using a document scanner that generates PDF documents, which are then processed by our OCR recognition system. The modules are offered separately as needed. All other functions in IKOffice MoldManager are required to ensure that workshop operations are planned to the high standard for which IKOffice MoldManager is known.
The PPS system developed by IKOffice provides a comprehensive solution for every conceivable business transaction. Nevertheless, we can accommodate the unique characteristics of your company through customizations. We work with you to tailor our software to your specific on-site conditions without compromising your connection to the core system or your ability to receive updates.
Our server system is delivered as a virtual machine based on Debian Linux. It can also be installed directly on a (physical) server, i.e., without a virtualization host. The client is optimized for Windows, but runs just as efficiently natively on Linux, where it uses GTK 3. The layout differs slightly in some screens, but the functionality is identical.
IKOffice MoldManager is designed for project-based, custom manufacturers, such as those found in tool, mold, model, fixture, machine, and plant engineering, while our IKOffice LivingERP is the item-based ERP system for mass production. The systems truly demonstrate their full potential through seamless integration between product concept, toolmaking, and mass production.
The costs for the IKOffice MoldManager PPS system are broken down as follows:
- A basic license (one-time purchase)
- Number of user licenses (rule of thumb: 2 per 10 employees at the WZB, rounded up)
- Introductory Package (Definition of Interfaces and Processes; Rule of thumb: 1 package for every 20 employees at the WZB)
- Training package (rule of thumb: 1 per 5 users)
- Annual maintenance costs (approx. 7–12% of the total amount)
IKOffice recommends using a virtual server, as we can provide you with preconfigured virtual machines. Of course, the IKOffice server can also be installed on a physical machine. If that is the case, we will coordinate the details with you individually.
The minimum requirements for the virtual server are as follows:
- RAM: at least 8 GB
- Processor: at least 2 CPU cores
- Hard drive space: at least 50 GB HDD
Recommended requirement:
- Memory: 12–16 GB RAM
- Processor: 2–4 CPU cores (4 cores are recommended for 10 or more concurrent users)
- Processor frequency: >= 3 GHz CPU frequency (IKOffice benefits from single-thread performance)
- Hard drive space> < 1 >= 50 GB HDD (more if IKOffice document management is used)
User licenses for IKOffice software can be purchased as named or concurrent (also known as floating) licenses. While named licenses specify the users by name, concurrent licenses only limit the total number of users. For further details, please refer to the “Licensing Information” sheet.
Depending on the type of application, IKOffice can connect to surrounding ERP systems such as SAP, Navision, Dynamics, WinCarat, AS400, and many others via interfaces. We also successfully implement data transfers to financial accounting systems such as DATEV, FibuNet, Simba, etc. Furthermore, there are connections, for example, to time-tracking systems such as ZEUS, AIDA, ATOSS, or bedatime; control centers such as ProSeS or the ARBURG control computer system (ALS); and various quality assurance (QA) systems.
However, the exact process for transferring and receiving data is always defined on a case-by-case basis during preliminary workshops. An example of this is the integration in our flowchart .
The process is usually completed after 4–8 months. The chart Introduction illustrates the key milestones of the rollout.
